Close Up - Al Whitlock

I have been a huge admirer of the artistry of Al Whitlock. He was a master matte painter and brilliantly understated artist. i recently had the absolute pleasure of viewing some of his original paintings and they were more impressive than i hoped. Solid drawing, controlled tone and amazingly real without being rendered or tight. My favorite style of painting.

Wow that is impressive, but they smashed the shit out of the blacks on that docks one. You cant see half of the great stuff he did.

Superb!

I'm a painter, myself. From Portugal.

I really find this amazing. Thank you to let me discover this work.

I'll be back.

Okay, Robh, my mind is going. Is the second matte painting from Hitchcock's Frenzy? I should know this and it's driving me nuts.
