Painting Trip
i took the laptop up to the Santa Ynez valley for a few days. loved the wine and the scenery! the first one is a hazy morning and the second, nice and clear. all cs2.
Sketchbook 07
yep, started working on the new sketchbook for San Diego this year, should be a good one!
Noir Girl
painted this evening at the LA Figurative Academy, the theme was noir girls (my favorite). Jennifer Fabos-Patton organizes the whole thing and does a great job. i thought this came out a little like Jack Cole, unintentional but i like his work.

Malibu
from life, cloudy but turned out ok, made a special brush on the spot to handle the bushes. that is one of the main reasons I paint from life, that kind of observational detail translated into (digital) paint.
New Stuff for Comic Con!!!!
oh boy... working on new stuff (finally) new prints, new books, new sketchbooks!!! it'll be GREAT!
Edges
for the past 2 weeks my class has been working on edges. edges are where 2 different materials meet, optically or physically. this painting represents a subject with a variety of edge treatments, from the razor sharp to the very soft.
