Invented Landscape

a look into my working method. i usually do several pages of thumbnail ideas, refine one by working on the silhouettes shapes in as few values as possible and then use those layers as my template for the final painting.

That value comp is so tight, do you actually just work over it in color layers separating your shapes out of it via hue? Or do you actually repaint it, keeping it as a reference layer? Sorry for the questions but I am about to shift gears and do some more landscape stuff so gathering info from the master is on my mind.

Aye!! I adore how simple you make your process and how well you handle natural lighting, as though some of your work looks very alla prima.
